Following the much awaited release of iOS 6 evasi0n jailbreak for Apple devices, the teams at FireCore got fired up to bring the same kind of release to achieve a jailbreak for Apple TV 2.
Bluetooth keyboard support marks the major upgrade feature in Apple TV’s most recent firmware. With the addition of quite a few remarkable features, it is worthwhile to upgrade your device to the latest release. Fortunately, Seas0nPass update has released its latest upgrade and now you can benefit from jailbreak the Apple TV having iOS 6.1.
Jailbreak on iOS 6.1 Apple TV 2
Notes: The jailbreak process mentioned here is applicable on Apple 2 only. It does not jailbreak the latest Apple 3 devices with 1080p enabled in them. There are no updates on whether an Apple TV 3 jailbreak is soon to be released or not since owing to too fewer features available on that device, providing a jailbreak would be of paramount difficulty. For this jailbreak however, you will require a USB micro cable to link your Apple TV 2 to your PC. Keep the Apple TV remote nearby too.
Step 1: Go to downloads page to get the Seas0nPass download for your operating system. This procedure was tested on Mac and works for Windows users the same.
Step 2: Drag and drop the Seas0nPass application icon on your desktop and click on it twice to launch it. Click on Create IPSW option and the download for Apple TV 5.2 with iOS 6.1 firmware will begin. The downloading will take some time to complete. Once completed, Seas0nPass will automatically make a custom IPSW. This created file is already jailbroken to work with the Apple TV 2 device.
Step 3: Connect your Apple TV 2 to your PC through the USB Micro cable. You will know the device is detected when you see the LED light on the device front switched on.
Step 4: Put your ATV 2 in DFU mode by keeping the Menu and Play/Pause button pressed for approximately 7 seconds.
Step 5: Once Seas0nPass detects that your device has been put in DFU mode, it will initiate the recovery procedure using custom firmware. The complete method is automated. What actually happens is it launches iTunes and navigates to where custom firmware is located. You won’t have to work with any clicks. It will take some time for the process to be completed, relax and be patient. This part of the deal is a bit lengthy. Once the restore procedure is finished, close Seas0nPass.
Step 6: Detach your Apple TV 2 from your PC and plug the Apple TV 2 power cable back in. With power supply restored, the LED light will switch back on. Reconnect the HDMI cable linking Apple TV and the television.
Step 7: The process achieves a complete restore. Hence, you need to go back to the first steps of configuration that includes Wifi network, etc. At the Home screen, you will find FireCore icon/logo placed in the setting app. If you see the logo then you have achieved a successful jailbreak for your Apple TV 2 through Seas0nPass.

Honestly, what can you really do with a jailbroken Apple TV without a Cydia application to aid you get started. It is not like a jailbroken iPhone.
Still, there are a number of amazing things you can perform in Apple TV 2. For beginners using TV Flash (black) is a good option. There is a fee to use it but it is totally worth it.
