iOS 6 untethered jailbreak has been expected to have been released as soon as iOS 6 was released however, this had not been achieved even though the relevant developers have been working really hard to come up with the required components. Last week’s announcement of creation of Evad3rs jailbreak team has brought hope for a jailbreak as soon as iOS 6.1 hits. But there is even better news for this date.
“Home stretch” is the term given by Dev and Evad3r’s team member MuscleNerd to the fifth beta release of iOS 6.1 by Apple. Though it is a mere assumption but the rumor still has it that a release is due as soon as beta tag is removed from iOS 6.1 and it is available for masses as a free service through iTunes and other updates. We hope that soon is sooner than we expect.
iOS 6 / 6.1 Jailbreak Untethered Devices Compatibility & Expected Release Date

Following MuscleNerd’s personal Twitter feed, it has been mentioned for the readers to keep a track of Evad3r’s Twitter account as the first tweet will hold significant importance. It might announce the untethered iOS 6 jailbreak that we have all been anxiously waiting for. As far as hardware along with device compatibility is concerned, the team leader has confirmed all iOS devices supporting iOS 6.1 including iPad mini, iPad 4 and the likes of iPhone 5 will be compatible except Apple TV 3 that is still impossible to crack so far.

Unbelievable, right? Yet, it is true. A big number of twenty-two devices are said to support Evad3r’s release and Apple’s TV 2 is in the list depending upon the 6.1 firmware release time. It is highly expected to hear some news in this regard this week after iOS 6.1’s final version is launched because MuscleNerd hinted about the release date as he warned the users against following fake Evad3r’s Twitter accounts, “miss the excitement this week”.

These are the devices 6.1 untether will support:
- iPhone 5
- iPhone 4S
- iPhone 4
- iPhone 3GS
- iPad 4
- iPad 3
- iPad 2
- iPad mini
- iPod touch 4
- iPod touch 5
These ones may be supported:
- Apple TV 2
These devices will not be supported at all:
- Apple TV 3
Thus, in short, there are a total of twenty-two devices that will be supported including second generation Apple TV. Owners of third-generation Apple TV will have to show some more patience till an applicable exploit is found. For the rest, look forward towards the end of this week to hear some news.
All those who own Pre-A5 devices like iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and iPod touch 4 can always tether jailbreak through sn0wbreeze or redsn0w.
