The Windows 8 Start Screen has been the topic of discussion for quite a while now. The Start Screen is the main workspace available for the users of Windows 8. In place of downloading and installing the applications in desktop mode, the Windows Store possesses all the apps that you are able to get on your Windows 8 device, in the same way as the Android and iOS platforms. Since the Start Screen is the main interface that you will be coming across whenever Windows starts or whenever you exit an app, customizing it to your own taste sounds like quite an appealing idea. The default Windows options for the Start Screen allows you to change the background color and apply themes; anyway, a much-needed option, that is the ability to set a custom wallpaper is still found missing from PC Settings. Windows 8 Start Screen Customizer is a tool for Windows 8 that allows you to change the Start Screen background, you are required to choose the number of app rows to show, and tweak the opacity settings for Start Screen and app tiles. Along with that, you have the option to choose a large number of images and set the background to change after a specified time interval on its own.
How to Auto Change Start Screen Background in Windows 8 after few Minutes
The app gets downloaded as a zip file. When you unzip it, you will come across that the extension of the extracted executable file is ‘ex_’. If you want to make it work, simply rename the extension to “exe”. Now, if you double-click on the file, this will start the app. This may seem unusual but it is assumed that the server used by the developer has a restriction on uploading files with .exe extension, even in compressed archives.
The application is designed to be very user-friendly and all the options are all available on the main interface. From the left side, you have the option to change the color of the Start Screen and after that apply the default themes, also set the maximum number of rows to show up on your Start Screen (the minimum number is automatically opted by Windows 8 according to your resolution), and increase/ decrease the Start Screen Opacity and Tiles Opacity. The right side allows you to apply a custom wallpaper to the Start Screen. Simply click Load Picture in order to choose an image, and after that press the Apply and then Save button to apply it.

You also have the option to automatically change the Start Screen background after a specified time interval by simply selecting a number of images that you want to be applied. Choose the Select Pictures option that appears at the bottom, after that select the desired images and then check the Slideshow box.

The images will “automatically change on the Start Screen”, one by one in the order in which they are selected.
Although the application works perfectly on smaller resolutions, it tends to be annoying when dealing with higher ones. In our testing, the application worked fine on 1366 x 768 resolution, but failed to work on 1920 x 1080.
Windows 8 Start Screen Customizer is workable on both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows 8.
